2 Marie Curie PhD Positions at Institute of Complex Systems, Italy

Study Subject(s):Nonlinear dynamics/complex networks. Course Level:PhD. Scholarship Provider: Institute of Complex Systems. Scholarship can be taken at: Italy

Eligibility:

MSc in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering obtained between 1 september 2008 — 1 september 2012 — Fluent in English

Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes

Scholarship Description: the Phd positions are offered within the Marie Curie Initial Training Network – ‘Neural Engineering Transformative Technologies’ (NETT) to work at the Institute of Complex Systems (ISC), CNR, Florence, Italy Applications are invited for the above posts to work with Dr Alessandro Torcini and Dr Thomas Kreuz in the Computational neuroscience group at ISC, Florence. This world leading group combines theoretical investigations (e.g., on nontrivial collective phenomena in neuronal populations) with practical applications (e.g., spike train analysis). The two positions are on nonlinear dynamics/complex systems with application to neuroscience, the research lines will be 1. Emergence of collective dynamics in scale-free neuronal networks (ESR14) 2. Measures of spike train synchrony (ESR15)

How to Apply: By post

Scholarship Application Deadline: 14 September 2012
