Germany: Research Economist position (Post-Doc)
The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is one of the leading and most reputed economic research institutes in Germany. It is associated with the University of Kiel (CAU Kiel), the Leibniz Community, and the largest library for economic sciences in the world (the Zentralbibliothek für Wirtschaftswissensc haften).
The Institute is seeking to fill a Research Economist position (Post-Doc).
The successful candidate will actively contribute to a research project „Towards a New Growth Path: Welfare, Wealth and Work for Europe" (funded by the European Commission). The project will be conducted by the Institute's Knowledge Creation and Growth Research Area. The research project will analyze the impact of cultural diversity on regional economic development (innovation, growth, labor market) in the European Union. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Economics (or be close to its completion) and should have expertise in empirical economics, in particular in cross section and panel econometrics. A well-founded knowledge of modern growth theories and a research interest in the field of innovation and growth is expected.
Candidates should have an excellent academic record and must have a demonstrated potential to publish in refereed journals of international standing.
The position is a full-time research position (weekly workload of 38.70 hours) and does not involve any teaching. The position is initially funded for two years and shall be filled in October 2012.
The salary is based on the German public service pay scale and the successful candidate would receive grade EG 14 TV-L. Part-time employment is possible.
