Netherlands: Two Postdoc Positions in Plasma Light Source Research

Two postdoc positions are available in the group Elementary Processes in Gas Disharges at Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands (http://www.phys.tue.nl/EPG).

The candidates will work on the numerical simulation of radiation transport and the chemical composition of high-pressure plasma light sources with varying degress of departure from euilibrium. To this end, the candidates will familiarize themselves with the in-house developed plasma modelling platform Plasimo and design, implement and test the extensions that are required for the project at hand.

They will also closely interact with PhD students working on the development of Plasimo and its applications. The project is carried out as part of a cooperation with Philips Lighting and Eindhoven University of Technology.

Requirements

We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD and a strong publication record in physics, astrophysics or numerical mathematics. Experience with the programming language

C++ is an advantage, but not required.

Employment conditions

This position offers full-time employment until the end of December 2012, with an initial evaluation period of 2 months. The monthly (gross) salary will be determined based upon previous experience as a postdoc (Scale 10 Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities). There is a vacation allowance and end-of-year-bonus (8 and 8.3% of salary, respectively). An attractive package of fringe benefits is offered. Special arrangements with respect to tax (30% rule) might be possible for foreign applicants.

Also assistance in finding housing can given to new staff members coming from abroad.
