Eligibility:
- Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements.
- It is expected that applicants will have a relevant Masters degree or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before October 2013. This studentship is open to suitable UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants.

Scholarship Description: The Centre for American Studies at Leicester is an inter-disciplinary unit with ten core members of staff. The Centre has a long history of success in teaching, student satisfaction, and inter- and multi-disciplinary research. Centre for American Studies historians, for example, have benefitted from significant research grants from the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. In terms of resources, the Centre has established a research seminar series (to which the successful applicant will be expected to contribute), and for the last ten years has run an externally funded Annual American Studies Lecture, which has brought a series of field-leading researchers from the US to Leicester in what has become a showcase event for the subject area.
Duration of award(s): Studentship is offered for three years.
