Switzerland: Postdoctoral position in Multimedia Recommender Systems and Summarization

The position is offered for one year, with renewal for a second year conditioned on satisfactory results. The position is open for the AROLES project (Automatic Recommendation of Lectures and Snippets) funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation through the IM2 NCCR (www.im2.ch). The AROLES project involves the Idiap Research Institute and Klewel SA (www.klewel.com), which provides a lecture capture and web-based broadcasting platform. Moreover, the work is also related to the European project InEvent (www.inevent-project.eu) coordinated by Idiap.
The postdoc will develop a system for multimedia recommendation from the Klewel archive of lectures, taking advantage also of previous work at Idiap and in the IM2 NCCR on multimodal signal processing and semantic relatedness. Additionally, the postdoc will develop a system to extract short multimedia summaries of the lectures.
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in computer science or information technology, in a field related to the position requirements above, including for instance (but not limited to) multimedia systems, recommender systems, information retrieval, or human language technology. Experience with technology transfer from research to commercial applications in a corporate setting is a plus. Excellent programming and systems integration capacities are required. The candidates should demonstrate good communication and writing skills in English, knowledge of French being an advantage.
The position is offered for one year, with possible renewal for a second year based on satisfactory results.
